Welcome to simply me

Does your hair or skin problem ever make you feel irritable, low In confidence, ugly, embarrassed and frustrated? For me it can!
Hi, my name is Piyali – Let me introduce you to Simply Me!

The skin is the largest organ of the body and both hair and skin are largely considered characteristics of health and beauty.  For many of us who have conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, acne, vitiligo, and alopecia to name just a few, it can be difficult to feel full of confidence every day and yet there is no cure to date. For these conditions, it’s about managing them. This can be frustrating as intermittent flare ups can be hard to manage and can be both physically and mentally debilitating. While there are charitable societies and allopathic and alternative treatments available out there, I still feel there could be more support for this population group and their families.

Simply me is a community that I wish I had had when I was growing up, at the peak of my irritable skin condition. I hope we can bring various population groups together, all of whom have a condition themselves, which affects their aesthetics or have a friend or family member who do.

Please join Simply me for free today and read my story and also share yours. By speaking to each other, sharing treatment experiences, providing support and expressing your thoughts and feelings, I hope we can make our experience more positive and supported.

This is a recent purchase from Selfridges. This beauty balm does exactly what it says, it primes, brightens, evens, hydrates and retexturizes my skin. It’s not as thick as foundation but has still worked to cover my scars without making me look overdone with makeup. It’s been really hard to find a foundation/BB cream which doesn’t make my skin look any worse by making it look grey and dry, this is definitely the best one I’ve tried so far! Thanks Trish McEvoy.

I go NOWHERE without this product. Whether I’m going on holiday for weeks or staying away for just one night, this is my staple moisturiser. To this day, I have not yet found another quite like Oilatum. Last Christmas I was staying with family and my cream had run out. On boxing day I went to the nearest Boots store and they were sold out, low and behold, the skin around my mouth and neck flared up, within 24 hours of not using this specific cream. It’s a steroid free moisturiser which is great and I find my skin is completely compatible with it. I have been using this moisturiser for years which I initially substituted for ‘Keri lotion’ as it was no longer made. Oilatum is what I HAVE to use as soon as I come out of water and it has really helped the condition of my skin over the years.

Aveeno has been the most recent addition to my regular moisturising routine. While I can’t just use aveeno on my face, I can definitely use it as the sole product on my body. Rather than helping with active eczema, it helps to really soften the dry patches on my body. I was shocked the first time I tried it, I hadn’t felt skin so soft on my own body before! It’s part of my daily routine now and was at one point, being prescribed for me until, unfortunately, it had to be stopped. It is however, sold in the high street stores such as Boots and I make sure I’m fully stocked up at all times.

Glycerin in everything

Why does Glycerin seem to be in all the products I use and all those I've been researching into? Because glycerin, I kid you not, seems to be this

SLS/SLES – What are these?

I can't wait to try my new cleansing shower wash I bought from Boots this week. I saw it contains himalayan salt minerals - sounds good doesn't
